My name is Paul Satzinger. I am interested in crewing on the Wednesday evening races this summer and fall. I am new to the area, and live in Trout Lake, WA.
I am currently available to help finish out the spring series races, but then will be unavailable from June 20 through July 10 (heading up to B.C. for a 2 week trip in Queen Charlotte Sound). I would love to get a few races in early June, and ten continue racing in July, August and through the fall when I get back.
Most of my recent sailing experience has been guiding and instructing 25-day sailing expeditions in the Sea of Cortez on 20-ft open boats, and 14-day trips on a Catalina 36 in B.C. waters in the spring, summer and fall.
I grew up sailing on Lake MIchigan, racing on PHRF boats and 420's dinghies, including three Chicago to Mackinac Island regattas. I am pretty handy on deck and at the helm. I love flying spinnakers, but would need a quick refresher on rigging and gibing them. I currently hold a USCG license, and formerly held a US Sailing Small Boat Sailing Instructor certification.
Overall, I am easy going, pay close attention to detail onboard, practice excellent seamanship, and put forth effort to be a good shipmate above all else. While I enjoy an aggressively sailed race, I do think this can be done in calm and composed demeanor. Hot-headed captains need not apply! Thanks for checking out my post.
